Control procedures

The E.S.E. Consortium is obliged to carry out the conformity checks on the products that the member companies want to certify, in order to ensure that the E.S.E. trademark is used correctly, represents an effective guarantee of quality and does not cause any fraud to the public.
To carry out the checks the Consortium uses people (the Consortium’s inspectors) and qualified external and independent Bodies.
The product quality control and production process management parameters are defined by the E.S.E. Consortium for all associated producers, within a timeframe as agreed with the Consortium.
During the certification process the controlling Body shall verify that: the E.S.E. servings comply with the geometric, physical-chemical, sensorial, functional and documental specifications applicable; the E.S.E. coffee machines correspond to temperature, volume, pressure, foam thickness, sensory, functional and documental specifications; the sample from the serving filters made by the E.S.E. “serving production plant” comply with the E.S.E. standards.

Moreover, the E.S.E. trademark is registered:
· in the European Union Countries (UE Trademark);
· in the Countries belonging to O.A.P.I.;
· as International trademark in the following Countries agreeing the Madrid Agreement: Algeria, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Benelux, Bosnia and Erzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Repubblic, Democratic People’s Republic of Corea, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Kazakstan, Kyrghyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sudan, Switzerland, Tajikistan, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam.
